Will an Aftermarket exhaust void my warranty?
Modifying the exhaust system may not automatically void your entire vehicle warranty. However, if an issue arises and the dealership can prove it was directly caused by the aftermarket exhaust system, the related repair may not be covered.
How much performance gains can I expect?
Gains vary depending on the car and the extent of the modification. A cat-back system on a naturally aspirated engine might yield 5-15 horsepower, while a full system including headers and an ECU tune could see more significant gains (25+ hp).
Are aftermarket exhausts legal?
This is highly dependent on local laws. Many aftermarket systems, especially those that remove catalytic converters or exceed noise limits (often around 80 decibels in places like India), are designed for off-road or track use only and are not street legal. What materials are used, and which is best?
T304 Stainless Steel: The industry standard offering excellent corrosion resistance and durability at a reasonable cost. It produces a deep, solid tone.
Titanium: A premium, lightweight option known for its high strength-to-weight ratio and distinct, metallic, high-pitched sound. It is more expensive than stainless steel.
Inconel: A very expensive, exotic superalloy used in Formula 1 due to its extreme heat resistance and light weight. It produces a sharp, piercing wail.
